For anyone thinking about trying out jiu jitsu, the instructor here is awesome! I trained with him for three months straight before coming back to VA and loved the fact that he was professional and personal. Highly recommend this academy and jiu jitsu in general!!!
My husband and son attend Pace Gracie JJ. Everyone is like a family here. The staff is so inviting and motivating. They have patience with my son during his lessons and I’m so grateful for that. We wouldn’t train anywhere else!
Great place to train! Top notch instruction from Professor Marcello, Coach Jasmin and Professor Jackson. There is an environment of respect, safety, humbleness, discipline and character. Great to see such a positive impact on kids, adults and the community as a whole. I would highly recommend this gym for anyone looking to train BJJ, regardless of age or skill level. I wish I had started sooner in life but at 43 I'm already reaping the benefits. Come train!
I highly recommend Checkmat Pace Gracie Academy. This academy has changed my life. I came to the academy to learn jiujitsu with my family, but not only did I make friends, I gained family. This jiujitsu academy is by far the best in the area.
I met Professor Marcelo when he was visiting Da Firma Training Center in Chesapeake, VA. He was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and kind. I had a great experience meeting and training with Professor Marcelo and would highly recommend him.
PGJJ is an amazing academy!! Very family oriented with something for kids and adults, practitioners and competitors. Great professors and teammates!! Our whole family attends classes and have benefited from both Professor Marcello’s and Professor Jackson’s teachings. A 10/10 BJJ community and experience.
This gym seems like right for all skill levels. The staff is knowledgeable and the community is welcoming. There is no judgement and they offer classes nearly every day.
My son Adrian was very excited about his first class and if it is an A1 center. As a mother I liked it a lot. Teachers teach children equally. All are very attentive and very good instructors. greetings to all.
This gym is so welcoming and just full of amazing people. I was visiting the area and checked it out, and now I’m hooked on BJJ. Such a great community, and as a woman I felt SO comfortable there! Great instructors that are super skilled and conscientious.
Professor Marcello and his team have built a challenging and welcoming culture. I’ve been off and on with BJJ over the past 6 months and Pace GJJ has made me want to stick with it.
